why we exist

More connected than ever, and lonelier than we admit.

With full calendars, endless scrolling and the pressure to always be productive, we've forgotten to simply spend time with one another.

India has always found strength in its communities. Neighbours knew each other, families gathered often, and friendships grew through everyday rituals. Many of those spaces are disappearing. The Fika exists because community isn't a nice-to-have. It's one of the most fundamental parts of being human.

how it all began ↓

one of our first Fikas, in the park

It started with one table.

After many years away from my hometown, Pune, I came back for a family emergency, and found a city full of people who, like me, were surrounded by others and yet quietly lonely. The first Fika was a handful of strangers, one long table, good coffee and one honest question.

That table became a few more, then a few hundred. Somewhere along the way, strangers started saving each other seats.

P.S. Come say hello at the next one. Rucha

who we are

A small team of hosts, artists, cooks and listeners.

We've hand-written hundreds of notes, made far too many playlists, and learnt that most people are just waiting for someone to ask them a real question.

and now, you

Come, let's be friends!

A seat at the next Fika is waiting, with a handwritten note on it.
